The genre of this magazine is a film magazine, we can see this from the well known character, the joker, on the front of the cover. As well as that, there are various actors and film titles on the cover, for example "Will Smith" "The Dark Knight" "Clint Eastwood" etc.
In terms of narrative, we can see from the cover lines that inside the magazine there will be various interviews with actors, for example "Eastwood on Eastwood in an amazing 12-page career special"
I think the magazine is aimed at the younger generation, however the image may be too scary for children. I would say the audience would be late teens to mid twenties. From looking at the cover, the magazine seems to be aimed at males; due to the colour and the image. However, the colour, when looking further into the magazine, we can see is to fit in with the Jokers colour scheme. Also, as we have some background knowledge of empire magazine, it is evident that the target audience is not just males, but mainly people who are really interested in the films and the industry.
The layout of the magazine is typical of many genres of magazine, the close up allows to see the facial expression of the actor - whist also showing what type of film is being advertised. There is a banner across the top of the cover "two covers to collect" which gives the impression that the magazine is something which you buy time and time again, indicating a specialised audience of those who appreciate film. The cover lines are surrounding the main image - which is again typical of many magazines. The magazine follows the three colour rule of green white and black, which fits in well with the film advertised; the Dark Knight.
